Overview
The Orange Bounce Mushroom, a premium morph of Discosoma sp., is prized for its stunning, inflated vesicles that “bounce” across its vibrant orange cap. Each polyp resembles a living gemstone, glowing under blue LED lighting with exaggerated texture and depth.
Originally popularized by strains like the WWC OG Bounce, this version features a deep orange disc with oversized neon or metallic bounce vesicles, making it a standout piece for collectors of high-end mushrooms. Each specimen is unique and can grow into a lush colony with time and care.
Care & Feeding
Extremely hardy and beginner-friendly, Discosoma mushrooms require stable parameters and low flow to thrive. While they are photosynthetic, occasional spot-feeding with powdered coral foods or amino acid-rich blends can enhance growth and bounce development.
Keep them away from aggressive corals, though they typically coexist well with other mushrooms and softies.
Optimal Parameters
-
Alkalinity (dKH): 8–11
-
Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm
-
Magnesium (Mg): 1300–1400 ppm
-
Nitrate (NO₃): 2–10 ppm
-
Phosphate (PO₄): 0.01–0.05 ppm
Placement
Best placed on the substrate or in shaded rock crevices. Avoid strong flow or direct intense light, as this can cause the mushroom to retract or detach. Ideal for nano tanks and low-light areas of larger systems.
