🧬 Overview

The Ultra Golden Ember Euphyllia paraancora is an exceptional and highly desirable branching Hammer Coral, distinguished by its extraordinary combination of vibrant orange pigmentation and luxurious metallic-gold highlights.

Unlike conventional green, purple or bicolour Hammer Corals, this premium selection displays a remarkable blend of warm golden-yellow, rich orange and luminous metallic tones, creating a spectacular appearance reminiscent of glowing embers.

Its characteristic hammer-shaped tentacle tips showcase beautiful golden pigmentation, while the fleshy tentacles provide additional depth and movement to the colony.

Under blue-spectrum reef lighting, the orange-gold coloration becomes particularly striking, producing an intense fluorescent display that immediately attracts attention within a carefully curated LPS aquarium.

One of the defining characteristics of Euphyllia paraancora is its branching skeletal structure, which allows individual heads to develop separately as the colony grows.

This growth form makes branching Hammer Corals especially attractive for collectors, as established colonies can gradually develop additional heads while maintaining their characteristic flowing appearance.

The Ultra Golden Ember selection stands out for its unusual warm coloration, offering a distinctive alternative to more commonly available Hammer Coral varieties.

Each colony is supplied with 2–3 heads, providing an attractive, established specimen with excellent visual presence and potential for future growth.

This Super Rare Orange-Gold Euphyllia is a premium selection for aquarists seeking exceptional colour combinations and distinctive collector LPS corals.

🍽️ Care & Feeding

Euphyllia paraancora is a photosynthetic LPS coral that obtains much of its energy through its symbiotic dinoflagellates. However, it may benefit from occasional supplemental feeding with small meaty foods, finely chopped mysis shrimp, enriched Artemia and appropriately sized coral preparations.

Target feeding once or twice per week may support tissue development and skeletal growth, although it is not essential when the coral receives adequate lighting and nutrients.

Provide gentle to moderate, indirect water movement that allows the characteristic hammer-shaped tentacles to sway naturally without being continuously compressed or pushed in one direction.

Avoid strong, concentrated flow, which may cause tissue irritation, excessive retraction or damage to the delicate fleshy tissue against the skeleton.

Stable alkalinity, calcium and magnesium concentrations are particularly important for healthy skeletal development and long-term colony growth.

Maintaining measurable nitrate and phosphate concentrations helps support tissue health, pigmentation and consistent polyp extension.

For the best expression of its orange-gold pigmentation and metallic fluorescence, provide balanced reef lighting with an appropriate blue-spectrum component.

Gradually acclimate the coral to its final lighting intensity, particularly when transferring it between aquariums with different PAR levels.

As with other Euphyllia species, avoid sudden changes in water chemistry, excessive handling and direct contact with neighbouring corals.

πŸ“ˆ Optimal Parameters

Parameter Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (POβ‚„) 0.03–0.10 ppm

πŸ“ Placement

Position the colony in the lower to middle sections of the reef, where it receives low to moderate lighting and gentle, multidirectional water movement.

The branching structure of Euphyllia paraancora allows its individual heads to expand beautifully, creating a full, flowing display when placed in suitable conditions.

Ensure that the colony is securely positioned, with sufficient space around each head for natural tissue expansion.

As an aggressive LPS species, Hammer Corals possess stinging tentacles capable of damaging neighbouring corals. Maintain adequate clearance from unrelated coral species and avoid direct contact with sensitive LPS or SPS colonies.

Although some Hammer and Frogspawn Corals may coexist in close proximity, compatibility is not guaranteed and should always be monitored carefully.

Avoid placing the colony directly in front of strong circulation pumps or where its fleshy tissue may repeatedly rub against surrounding rockwork.

Under suitable conditions, the Ultra Golden Ember Euphyllia can develop impressive polyp extension, displaying its spectacular metallic-gold and orange pigmentation in a beautiful combination of colour, volume and movement.
