Black People Eater Zoanthids are primarily photosynthetic, obtaining much of their energy through their symbiotic algae.

Direct feeding is generally unnecessary, although occasional feeding with fine particulate coral foods, rotifers or appropriately sized zooplankton may provide additional nutrition.
