🟤🪸 Acropora millepora “Camel”
WYSIWYG Specimen – Camel Millepora Acropora
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Advanced
Temperament: Peaceful (requires spacing from neighbouring SPS colonies)
Colour Form: The Camel Millepora Acropora displays warm camel and sandy-beige tones across its branching structure with lighter golden highlights along the growth tips. Under actinic lighting subtle fluorescent undertones may appear within the polyps while the coral maintains its natural earthy coloration. Under balanced white lighting the colony reveals rich desert-like hues of tan, caramel and soft golden brown that give the coral its distinctive “camel” appearance.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Acroporidae
Lighting: High (PAR 250–350)
Water Flow: Strong and turbulent
Placement: Upper rockwork or high-energy reef zones
Type: WYSIWYG
🧬 Overview
The Acropora millepora “Camel” is a distinctive SPS coral valued for its warm natural coloration and classic millepora growth structure. Millepora species are known for their dense polyp extension and slightly bushier branching pattern, which gives the colony a soft textured appearance compared to more rigid Acropora species.
The camel-toned pigmentation creates a beautiful natural contrast when placed among brightly coloured SPS corals such as blues, purples or neon greens. Its subtle earthy palette adds balance and realism to reef aquascapes while the extended polyps create gentle movement in strong water flow.
As the colony matures, the branching structure becomes denser and develops into a compact and textured SPS formation.
WYSIWYG:
You will receive the exact coral shown in the photo. Each specimen is individually photographed and selected for colour saturation, structure and coral health.
Selected for:
• Warm camel and sandy coloration
• Classic millepora polyp extension
• Healthy tissue and visible growth tips
• Natural-looking SPS growth pattern
• Excellent contrast coral in SPS aquascapes
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Like most Acropora species, Camel Millepora relies mainly on photosynthesis but benefits from stable nutrient levels and occasional coral feeding.
Recommended feeding 1–2× weekly:
• Fine plankton blends or powdered coral foods
• Amino acid supplements for SPS systems
• Broadcast feeding in mature reef aquariums
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter | Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm
📍 Placement
Place in the upper aquascape where strong lighting and turbulent water flow are present. Millepora corals benefit from strong water movement which promotes healthy polyp extension and steady growth.
Allow sufficient spacing between neighbouring SPS colonies to support natural branching development.
