🧬 Overview
The Toro Bravo Favites is a vibrant and aggressive-looking morph of Favites sp., characterised by its fiery red tissue and bold golden “bull’s-eye” corallites. The striking contrast mimics the look of a charging beast in motion — a powerful visual addition to any reef.
Despite its rugged appearance, this coral is relatively easy to care for, grows steadily, and offers structure and colour density that stands out both under daylight and blues.
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Favites are largely photosynthetic but thrive with occasional feeding. 1–2 times per week, offer small meaty foods such as reef roids, powdered coral foods, or finely chopped mysis near the mouths for better polyp extension and colour depth.
Take care with placement — although slow to extend sweepers, Favites can damage nearby tissue if in close contact with other LPS.
📈 Optimal Parameters
-
Alkalinity (dKH): 8–11
-
Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm
-
Magnesium (Mg): 1250–1350 ppm
-
Nitrate (NO₃): 2–10 ppm
-
Phosphate (PO₄): 0.01–0.05 ppm
📍 Placement
Mount on stable rock or flat reef structures in lower to mid areas of the tank. Moderate indirect flow and blue-dominant lighting will highlight its high-contrast pattern and enhance polyp visibility.
