Overview
Halymenia durvillei, known as Dragon’s Tongue or Dragon’s Breath, is a stunning red macroalgae valued for its flame-like, flowing fronds and deep burgundy coloration that really pops under reef lighting. It’s easy to keep in reef systems with moderate to strong light and water movement, where it can serve both as a decorative focal point and a nutrient-exporting macroalgae that helps maintain water quality. This non-invasive species is reef compatible with corals and small fish but should be avoided with heavy grazers that might nibble on its fronds
