Overview

Caulerpa brachypus is a fast-growing, creeping green macroalgae highly valued for its nutrient-export efficiency and natural appearance. It spreads through horizontal stolons that firmly attach to rockwork, producing upright, leaf-like fronds that add gentle movement and a vibrant green contrast to marine aquariums.

Commonly used in refugiums and sumps, this species thrives under strong lighting and moderate flow, quickly absorbing excess nitrates and phosphates to help stabilize water quality and suppress nuisance algae. Its dense growth also provides excellent habitat for microfauna such as copepods and amphipods. Easy to maintain and highly functional, Caulerpa brachypus is an excellent choice for established reef systems where nutrient control and aesthetics go hand in hand.
