🪸🪸 Acropora sp. “Dual Frag”
WYSIWYG Specimen – Two Acropora Frags on One Plug
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Advanced
Temperament: Peaceful (requires spacing from neighbouring SPS colonies)
Colour Form: This WYSIWYG piece features two individual Acropora frags growing on the same frag plug, each developing its own coloration and branching structure. Under actinic lighting the corals display strong fluorescence across their branches and growth tips, while under balanced white lighting subtle tones of greens, blues, creams or warm hues may become visible depending on the individual specimens.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Acroporidae
Lighting: High (PAR 250–350)
Water Flow: Strong and turbulent
Placement: Upper rockwork or high-energy reef zones
Type: WYSIWYG
🧬 Overview
The Acropora “Dual Frag” WYSIWYG is a unique SPS piece featuring two separate Acropora frags mounted on the same plug. This type of coral offers an interesting opportunity to grow multiple SPS colonies from a single base, creating a natural cluster effect as the corals mature.
Each frag can develop its own branching pattern and colour expression, adding diversity and visual complexity to the reef aquascape. Over time, the colonies may grow together into a compact SPS structure or can be separated if the reef keeper prefers to grow them individually.
This makes the piece both visually interesting and practical for reef hobbyists looking to expand their SPS collection.
WYSIWYG:
You will receive the exact coral shown in the photo. Each specimen is individually photographed and selected for colour, structure and coral health.
Selected for:
• Two individual Acropora frags on one plug
• Healthy tissue and visible growth tips
• Strong potential for colony development
• Unique dual-colony SPS piece
• Excellent addition to SPS reef aquascapes
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Like most Acropora species, these corals rely mainly on photosynthesis but benefit from stable nutrient levels and occasional coral feeding.
Recommended feeding 1–2× weekly:
• Fine plankton blends or powdered coral foods
• Amino acid supplements for SPS systems
• Broadcast feeding in mature reef aquariums
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter | Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm
📍 Placement
Place in the upper aquascape where strong lighting and turbulent water flow are present. Adequate spacing will allow both corals to develop their natural branching structures.
As the frags mature, they may grow into a dense SPS cluster that adds structure and movement to the reef.
