Overview
🔥 The Chernobyl Elegance Coral is a show-stopping large polyp stony (LPS) coral with a radiance that seems almost unnatural. Cultured for resilience and intensity, this specimen earns its name with a "nuclear" glow — bold green, toxic yellow, and flashes of blue that command attention in any reefscape.
Its elongated, fleshy tentacles undulate gracefully in gentle flow, creating hypnotic movement while bringing depth and otherworldly light to the aquarium. A centrepiece coral for serious reefers looking to make a luminous impact.
Care & Feeding
Catalaphyllia thrives in stable, mature reef systems. Provide moderate lighting and gentle flow to encourage polyp extension and coloration. Target feeding 1–2 times a week with finely chopped meaty foods like mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, or coral-specific blends can enhance vibrancy and health.
Important: Due to its aggressive nature and long sweeper tentacles, allow at least 6–8 inches of clearance from neighboring corals to avoid stinging.
Optimal Parameters
-
Alkalinity (dKH): 8–11
-
Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm
-
Magnesium (Mg): 1300–1400 ppm
-
Nitrate (NO₃): 1–10 ppm
-
Phosphate (PO₄): 0.01–0.05 ppm
Placement
Best placed on a soft sand bed or lower rockwork in areas with low to moderate indirect flow. Avoid direct blast from powerheads to prevent polyp stress or tissue damage.
