💜🪸 Acropora anthocercis “Purple Crown” – Australian Lineage
WYSIWYG Specimen – Deep Purple Anthocercis Acropora
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Advanced
Temperament: Peaceful (requires spacing from neighbouring SPS colonies)
Colour Form: The Purple Crown Anthocercis displays rich royal-purple to deep violet branches with subtle lavender highlights along the growth tips. Under actinic lighting the coral develops glowing purple fluorescence while the polyps create a textured surface across the branches. Under balanced white lighting the coral reveals elegant tones of royal purple, grape and soft violet gradients that emphasize the coral’s refined structure.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Acroporidae
Lighting: High (PAR 250–350)
Water Flow: Strong and turbulent
Placement: Upper rockwork or high-energy reef zones
Type: WYSIWYG
🧬 Overview
The Acropora anthocercis “Purple Crown” is a beautiful Australian SPS coral known for its deep purple pigmentation and structured branching form. Anthocercis Acropora typically develop elegant, slightly open branching colonies with defined axial tips and strong skeletal structure.
The intense purple coloration creates a regal visual presence within reef aquascapes and pairs exceptionally well with bright greens, yellows and blues. Under strong reef lighting the violet tones intensify, producing a rich jewel-like colour that stands out among more common SPS shades.
As the colony matures, branches grow upward and outward while the growth tips highlight new development, giving the coral a crown-like appearance in the aquascape.
WYSIWYG:
You will receive the exact coral shown in the photo. Each specimen is individually photographed and selected for colour saturation, structural form and coral health.
Selected for:
• Deep royal-purple coloration
• Strong anthocercis branching structure
• Healthy tissue and active growth tips
• Excellent polyp extension
• Proven colour response under reef LED lighting
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Like most Acropora, Purple Crown relies primarily on photosynthesis but benefits from nutrient-balanced reef environments and occasional coral feeding.
Recommended feeding 1–2× weekly:
• Fine plankton blends or powdered coral foods
• Amino acid supplements for SPS systems
• Broadcast feeding in mature reef systems
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter | Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm
📍 Placement
Place in the upper aquascape where strong lighting and turbulent water flow are present. Stable parameters are essential to maintain the coral’s deep purple coloration and healthy skeletal growth.
Allow adequate spacing between neighbouring SPS colonies to support natural branch development.
