🧬 Overview

The Sapphire Sunburst Zoanthus is a striking premium selection, combining beautiful sapphire-blue pigmentation with vibrant golden-yellow highlights.

Its distinctive blue and yellow colour combination creates an attractive contrast between cool, ocean-inspired tones and warm, luminous pigmentation, producing a vibrant appearance that stands out within a carefully curated Zoanthus collection.

Under balanced reef lighting, the blue areas provide depth and definition, while the yellow pigmentation introduces brightness and visual contrast.

Blue-spectrum illumination can further enhance the appearance of the yellow highlights, creating a beautiful interplay between darker blue tones and brighter, potentially fluorescent areas.

Each polyp displays the characteristic rounded oral disc and surrounding tentacles typical of Zoanthus, producing a delicate flower-like appearance when fully extended.

As the frag develops, individual polyps can gradually multiply, forming an increasingly colourful colony with excellent visual presence.

This WYSIWYG frag has been individually selected for its attractive blue and yellow pigmentation, making it an excellent addition to premium Zoanthus gardens.

🍽️ Care & Feeding

Zoanthus are photosynthetic colonial corals that obtain much of their energy through their symbiotic dinoflagellates. Although supplemental feeding is not essential, they may benefit from occasional exposure to fine particulate coral foods, rotifers, small zooplankton and suspended organic particles.

Provide gentle to moderate, variable water movement to support gas exchange, nutrient delivery and the removal of accumulated detritus from between the polyps.

Avoid strong, concentrated flow that may prevent full polyp extension.

Stable water chemistry and measurable nutrient concentrations are important for maintaining healthy tissue, consistent coloration and colony development.

Zoanthus generally adapt well to a range of lighting conditions, although gradual acclimation is recommended when transferring the frag between aquariums with different PAR levels.

Handling Precaution: Some Zoanthus and related colonial anthozoans may contain palytoxin or other harmful compounds. Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when handling or fragging, avoid exposing the coral to hot water or steam, and wash hands and equipment thoroughly after contact.

📍 Placement

Position the frag in the lower to middle sections of the reef, where it receives low to moderate lighting and gentle, multidirectional water movement.

Zoanthus are particularly suitable for placement on dedicated frag rocks, Zoanthus gardens or stable reef structures where their colonies can gradually expand.

Allow sufficient space between neighbouring corals to prevent overcrowding and competition for available surfaces.

Under suitable conditions, the Sapphire Sunburst Zoanthus can develop into a beautiful colony displaying rich blue pigmentation and luminous golden-yellow highlights, creating an attractive focal point within a colourful Zoanthus garden.
