Premium Gold Torch with Electric Blue Tips – Shop Propagated
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Moderate
Temperament: Aggressive (long sweeper tentacles)
Colour Form: Classic NY Knicks coloration, combining rich golden-yellow to warm orange/gold tentacles with highly contrasting electric blue to blue-violet tips. Under actinic lighting, the warm metallic body and cold blue tips create the characteristic high-contrast Knicks appearance. This gold/blue combination is consistently associated with the NY Knicks morph in the trade.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Euphylliidae

🧬 Overview
The Euphyllia glabrescens “NY Knicks” is one of the most recognisable collector Torch morphs, combining warm gold/yellow coloration with intensely contrasting blue tips. Similar aquacultured NY Knicks mother colonies are described with golden-yellow tentacles and bright electric blue-violet terminal tips.
Under blue-spectrum lighting, the golden pigmentation becomes considerably more vivid while the tips develop their characteristic electric-blue glow, producing a spectacular warm-versus-cool contrast.
As the coral expands, its long flowing tentacles create continuous movement, mixing gold, yellow and blue throughout the colony. It is a particularly effective colour combination in an LPS display because the blue tips remain clearly visible against the warmer tentacle coloration.
✂️ Cut to Order – Shop Propagated
This listing is not WYSIWYG. Each frag is cut to order directly from our established NY Knicks mother colony.
Because every head develops naturally, exact size, tentacle length, branching and colour distribution may vary slightly between specimens. Newly cut pieces may initially show reduced extension while recovering and establishing.
Selected for:
• Classic NY Knicks coloration
• Rich gold / yellow tentacles
• Electric blue to blue-violet tips
• Exceptional warm/cool colour contrast
• Strong fluorescence under actinic lighting
• Long, flowing Torch tentacles
• Propagated from established mother stock
• FreakinCorals Cut-to-Order specimen
🍽️ Care & Feeding
NY Knicks Torches obtain most of their energy through photosynthesis but benefit from occasional supplemental feeding.
Recommended occasionally:
• Mysis shrimp or finely chopped marine foods
• Quality LPS pellets
• Small particulate coral foods
Stable alkalinity, calcium, salinity and nutrient levels are essential for maintaining healthy tissue, skeletal growth and strong coloration.
📈 Optimal Parameters
| Parameter | Ideal Range |
|---|---|
| Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5 |
| Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm |
| Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm |
| Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm |
| Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm |
📍 Placement
Place in the lower to middle areas of the reef with moderate, indirect and variable water movement. Flow should allow the long tentacles to extend and sway naturally without being continuously blasted in one direction.
Allow generous clearance from neighbouring corals due to the long sweeper tentacles and aggressive nature of Euphyllia glabrescens.
