Application & Dosage

Method 1 – Rock & Substrate Inoculation (Recommended)

1. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use.

2. Mix 15 ml of EcoStart Reef with 2 litres of aquarium water or freshly prepared synthetic seawater.

3. Pour the mixture over approximately 4 kg of rock or substrate in a suitable container, ensuring complete submersion.

4. Leave for 24 hours at approximately 25–28°C.

5. Keep the container ventilated and avoid sealing it airtight.

6. After 24 hours, the biologically inoculated material is ready for aquarium use.

Method 2 – Direct Aquarium Application

EcoStart Reef can also be added directly to an aquarium already filled with seawater.

Recommended dosage: 15 ml per 100 litres of aquarium water.

A temporary bacterial bloom may occur during inoculation and can be a normal indication of microbial activity.

For optimal results during the initial cycling phase, Tropic Marin® recommends combining EcoStart Reef with Tropic Marin® Phos-Start, which provides additional bacterial nutrients and trace elements.

Important: Although EcoStart Reef helps accelerate biological maturation, the aquarium's ability to process ammonia and nitrite should always be verified before introducing livestock.
