🔹 Quick Stats Care Level: Moderate Temperament: Semi-aggressive Colour Form: An unusual rust/copper-dominant coloration with warm metallic orange, bronze and golden highlights. Under blue/actinic lighting, the warmer pigments develop a beautiful metallic glow, giving the coral a distinctive oxidised copper / rust appearance. Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026 Family: Lobophylliidae Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 70–150) Water Flow: Low to Moderate Placement: Low to Mid reef Type: WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get)
🧬 Overview The Gold Meister Chalice is a striking collector LPS known for its metallic warm coloration and plating/encrusting growth pattern. The morph is commonly sold as JF Gold Meister, although Chalice trade names can encompass somewhat different-looking specimens and even different genus identifications between sellers. Tidal Gardens describes its Gold Meister as having a deep base with strong golden streaking, while other sellers describe Gold Meister specimens ranging through gold, orange and intense copper tones.
This particular WYSIWYG specimen immediately caught our attention because of its unusual rust coloration. Rather than displaying only conventional bright gold, the tissue develops rich rust, burnt orange and copper tones, mixed with metallic golden highlights.
Under actinic lighting these colours become considerably more pronounced, creating an almost oxidised-metal appearance across the surface.
A new addition to our selection, and something genuinely different for collectors looking beyond the usual fluorescent greens and reds.
🧾 WYSIWYG – New Arrival You will receive the exact specimen shown, individually selected for its unusual coloration and overall appearance.
Selected for: • Unusual rust / ferrugem coloration • Metallic copper and bronze tones • Golden highlights • Beautiful warm colour transitions • Strong appearance under actinic lighting • Interesting plating/encrusting growth form • Collector Chalice coloration • New addition to our coral selection • Exact WYSIWYG specimen
🍽️ Care & Feeding Gold Meister Chalices are photosynthetic but can benefit from occasional supplemental feeding with small meaty or particulate foods. Low-to-moderate lighting and flow are generally recommended; excessive light can reduce the richness of the gold coloration.
Recommended occasionally: • Mysis or finely chopped marine foods • Fine LPS foods • Zooplankton / microplankton-based coral foods
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter
Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH)
7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca)
420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg)
1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃)
5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄)

📍 Placement Best placed in the lower to middle areas of the reef under low-to-moderate lighting. Provide gentle to moderate water movement sufficient to prevent detritus from accumulating without continuously blasting the fleshy tissue. Gold Meister specimens are commonly maintained around 50–150 PAR, depending on the system and acclimation.
