🧬 Overview
The Neon Mint Galaxy Briareum is an exceptional soft coral selection, combining dramatic dark purple pigmentation with intensely fluorescent mint-green polyp centres.
Its characteristic long, slender violet-purple tentacles surround brilliant mint-green to turquoise oral discs, creating an extraordinary contrast between deep pigmentation and vivid fluorescence.
Under blue-spectrum reef lighting, each polyp resembles a tiny glowing star, producing a beautiful galaxy-like display of electric green highlights scattered across a dark purple background.
One of the most attractive characteristics of this specimen is its dense concentration of delicate, star-shaped polyps. As they extend, the coral develops a rich, flowing appearance, with individual polyps gently swaying in response to the surrounding current.
Unlike traditional Green Star Polyps, which often display predominantly green tentacles, this distinctive selection features dark purple tentacles with intensely luminous green centres, creating a more dramatic and sophisticated two-tone appearance.
Briareum is particularly appreciated for its adaptability, attractive polyp movement and ability to develop into dense, colourful colonies. Under suitable conditions, it can gradually spread across surrounding rock surfaces, creating an impressive carpet of fluorescent star-shaped polyps.
This WYSIWYG frag has been individually selected for its remarkable purple and mint-green coloration, dense polyp coverage and exceptional visual contrast.

🍽️ Care & Feeding
Briareum is a photosynthetic soft coral that obtains most of its energy through its symbiotic dinoflagellates. Supplemental feeding is generally not essential, although it may benefit from occasional exposure to fine planktonic foods, phytoplankton, small zooplankton and suspended organic particles.
Provide moderate to strong, variable water movement to encourage healthy polyp extension, support gas exchange and prevent detritus from accumulating between the polyps.
Avoid direct, concentrated pump flow that continuously bends the polyps in one direction or prevents natural extension.
Although Briareum is generally considered a hardy and adaptable soft coral, stable water chemistry and measurable nutrient concentrations are important for maintaining healthy tissue and consistent coloration.
Unlike stony corals, Briareum does not build a massive calcium carbonate skeleton. However, maintaining balanced alkalinity, calcium and magnesium concentrations contributes to the overall stability of a mixed reef aquarium.
One important consideration is its potentially rapid encrusting growth. Under favourable conditions, Briareum can spread across adjacent rockwork and compete for space with slower-growing corals.
For this reason, careful placement and occasional trimming may be necessary to maintain its boundaries within a mixed reef system.

📍 Placement
Position the frag in the lower to middle sections of the reef, where it receives low to moderate lighting and consistent, variable water movement.
Briareum is particularly suitable for placement on isolated rocks or dedicated soft coral islands, where its encrusting growth can be controlled without allowing it to spread onto the main reef structure.
Avoid placing the frag directly against neighbouring corals, especially slower-growing LPS or SPS colonies, as its expanding tissue may eventually overgrow surrounding surfaces.
Under suitable conditions, the polyps can develop excellent extension, creating a dense carpet of flowing violet-purple tentacles punctuated by brilliant mint-green fluorescent centres.
The combination of intense fluorescence, elegant movement and contrasting pigmentation makes this coral particularly attractive under blue-spectrum reef lighting.
