All-in-One Reef Keeping System (RKS) – REEF ENGINE CORE 7.7x High Concentrate

Available Sizes:

  • 4 × 500 ml Set (2 L total)

  • 4 × 1 L Set (4 L total)

  • 4 × 2.5 L Set (10 L total)

  • 4 × 5 L Set (20 L total)

Each set includes four equal parts:

  • Base KH1

  • Base KH2

  • Base CAL

  • Base MAG

It contains all essential trace elements found in natural seawater, organic and inorganic micronutrients, and amino acids in one set of four containers! Everything you need to maintain a thriving and colourful modern reef aquarium.

A unique proportional consumption formula developed and used by Akil from Euro Corals to grow and produce spectacular corals.

Modern Reef – Reef Keeping System is the foundation of our proportional consumption reef-keeping system, alongside Complete Reef Food and Polypop.

Once you have established the maintenance dosage and ideal KH level, our system will provide your reef with everything it needs to thrive and develop vibrant colours, based on the proportional consumption of KH (carbonate hardness) and Ca (calcium).

Key Benefits

  • Developed to enhance some of the most challenging pigments in reef keeping, particularly yellow and orange pigments.

  • Enhances red, pink, blue and purple pigments, especially in the tissue and polyps of Acropora corals.

  • Stimulates non-fluorescent chromoproteins for improved pigmentation.

  • Designed for reef aquariums using predominantly blue-spectrum lighting, improving the excitation and stimulation of fluorescent proteins and reflective pigments.

  • Coral growth rates are significantly improved when used with Complete Reef Food and can be further boosted with the correct white-spectrum lighting, although RKS consumption will increase.

  • Improves water clarity by encouraging the proliferation of sponges and sea squirts.

  • No need to constantly test magnesium and calcium – regular KH testing is sufficient once the system is balanced.

  • No need for additional amino acids, mixed trace elements or other products marketed for coral colouration, polyp extension or growth (only Modern Reef – Complete Reef Food and Polypop).

  • Proportional consumption reef-keeping system, dosed by calculation to prevent overdosing or unnecessary accumulation of elements that could cause problems.

  • Free from nitrates (NO3) and phosphates (PO4).

  • Adapts to any aquarium setup and nutrient export method by establishing the ideal KH level and maintenance dosage in relation to calcium consumption.

Concentration

10 ml per 100 litres will raise KH by 2 dKH.

Preparation

Modern Reef All-in-One RKS is supplied ready to use as four equal liquid parts.

It can be dosed manually, although the use of a dosing pump is strongly recommended, particularly for SPS-dominated reef aquariums. Ideally, use a dosing pump with four independently calibratable heads.

If your dosing pump has only three heads, you can combine one part of BASE-KH1 with one part of BASE-KH2 in a single container. In this case, the dosage of the combined BASE KH1 and KH2 solution must be doubled.

Please follow these recommendations to improve dosing pump performance, ensure accurate dosing and maintain a stable reef aquarium:

  • The tubing connecting the containers to the dosing pump heads should be of equal length. Likewise, the tubing from the pumps to the aquarium should also be of equal length. This ensures consistent operating conditions and more reliable calibration between the pumps.

  • Calibrate your dosing pump according to the manufacturer's instructions. Check the calibration every six months and recalibrate if necessary.

  • Set the dosing pump to deliver equal amounts of each solution, allowing at least 10 minutes between doses. Ideally, follow this sequence: KH1 → CAL → KH2 → MAG, with a 10–15 minute interval between each.

  • Distribute the daily dosage across as many dosing intervals as your dosing pump allows.

Dosage

Simply dose equal amounts of each of the four solutions to maintain KH between 6.8 and 8 dKH. All other elements will then be supplied proportionally.

During the first two weeks, establish the ideal KH level for your reef aquarium based on its lighting spectrum and calcium consumption.

In other words, dose equal amounts of each solution to maintain calcium between 380 and 420 ppm, then test KH to determine your aquarium's ideal KH level within the 6.8–8 dKH range.

This allows Modern Reef All-in-One RKS to adapt to your aquarium's individual consumption requirements, rather than forcing your aquarium to adapt to the system.

Example 1:

If you are dosing equal amounts of each solution to maintain KH at 7.5 dKH but calcium levels are decreasing, gradually increase the dosage to maintain KH at 7.7 dKH and test calcium again.

Repeat if necessary. Once you have established the ideal KH level for your aquarium, frequent calcium testing is no longer required.

Example 2:

If you are dosing equal amounts of each solution to maintain KH at 8 dKH but calcium levels are increasing, gradually reduce the dosage to maintain KH at 7.8 dKH and test calcium again.

Repeat if necessary. Once you have established the ideal KH level for your aquarium, frequent calcium testing is no longer required.

Modern Reef All-in-One RKS does not require shaking or the use of a magnetic stirrer.

Precautions

There is no need to use additional products such as amino acids, mixed trace elements or other supplements marketed for coral colouration, polyp extension or growth.

All these components are already included and supplied proportionally according to consumption, with the exception of solid food. Avoid using additional supplements of this type alongside RKS.

Store this product in a dark or shaded location, away from direct sunlight or other light sources.

We recommend keeping the solutions in their original containers. If you use transparent dosing containers, ensure they are positioned away from direct light.

Strong light exposure can destabilise certain elements. Furthermore, because the product contains a form of "life source", microorganisms may begin to multiply inside transparent containers when exposed to direct light.

The original containers provide sufficient protection against light under normal conditions, although direct sunlight and aquarium lighting should still be avoided.

Refrigeration is not required. For long-term storage, keep the product in a cool place.
