🧬 Overview

The Ocean Ember Acanthophyllia is a rare and captivating large-polyp solitary coral, revered for its intense trio of colours: soft baby blue, deep cobalt, and radiant orange. Each specimen displays unique patterning, from sunburst centres to swirling gradients, making it a one-of-a-kind showpiece in any reef system.

With its smooth, inflated tissue and hypnotic colouration, this coral draws attention from every angle. Its peaceful nature and slow growth make it ideal for established tanks with stable conditions.

🍽️ Care & Feeding

Primarily photosynthetic, this coral also benefits from supplemental feeding 1–2 times per week. Offer meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, finely chopped seafood, or reef-safe gel-based coral blends.

Avoid high-flow placement, which may cause tissue recession. Ensure it rests securely on a sandy substrate, with space to expand fully without competition from aggressive neighbours.

📈 Optimal Parameters

  • Alkalinity (dKH): 8–11

  • Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm

  • Magnesium (Mg): 1250–1350 ppm

  • Nitrate (NO₃): 2–10 ppm

  • Phosphate (PO₄): 0.01–0.05 ppm

📍 Placement

Place directly on the sandbed in a low-flow area of the tank. Lighting should be moderate, with blue spectrum LEDs enhancing the coral’s soft pastel and fiery tones. Avoid rockwork or unstable platforms that may damage its fleshy tissue over time.
