💛💚🪸 Goniastrea sp. “Lemon Splatter”
WYSIWYG Specimen – Yellow & Green Splatter Australian Goniastrea Colony
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Easy to Moderate
Temperament: Semi-aggressive (short sweeper tentacles – allow spacing)
Colour Form: The Lemon Splatter Goniastrea displays a vibrant base of fluorescent yellow scattered with bright emerald-green splatter patterns across each polyp. Under actinic lighting the coral glows intensely with neon-yellow fluorescence while the green markings appear as vivid glowing speckles across the coral surface. Under balanced white lighting the colony reveals rich shades of lemon yellow, lime and emerald green that create a striking high-contrast splatter pattern.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Merulinidae
Lighting: Low to Moderate (PAR 80–150)
Water Flow: Low to Moderate, indirect flow
Placement: Lower rockwork or sand bed
Type: WYSIWYG – Australian Colony
🧬 Overview
The Goniastrea “Lemon Splatter” is a beautiful Australian LPS coral known for its bright yellow base coloration covered with vibrant green splatter markings. This natural speckled pattern creates a dynamic mosaic effect across the coral’s thick skeletal structure.
Goniastrea corals are appreciated for their durability and strong polyp definition, making them an excellent addition to mixed reef aquariums. Each polyp forms a defined geometric structure that highlights the splatter colour pattern across the colony.
Under reef LED lighting the fluorescent pigments become extremely vivid, with the yellow glowing brightly while the green markings add depth and texture.
As the coral grows, additional polyps develop outward, gradually forming a larger and more impressive encrusting colony.
WYSIWYG:
You will receive the exact coral shown in the photo, selected for colour intensity and healthy polyp structure.
Selected for:
• Bright lemon-yellow base coloration
• Emerald-green splatter pattern
• Well-defined Goniastrea polyp structure
• Strong fluorescence under reef LED lighting
• Beautiful Australian LPS colony
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Goniastrea corals benefit from nutrient-rich environments and occasional feeding.
Recommended feeding 1–2× weekly:
• Mysis shrimp
• Finely chopped seafood
• LPS pellets or coral foods
• Broadcast feeding in mature reef systems
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter | Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm
📍 Placement
Place on lower rockwork or sand bed with moderate lighting and gentle indirect flow. Ensure enough space around the coral as it can extend short sweeper tentacles during feeding periods.
Avoid direct contact with neighbouring corals.
