The dominant polyps display an extraordinary combination of deep midnight-purple pigmentation, intense fiery-red centres and distinctive white markings radiating around the mouth. Their elongated green tentacles add movement and create a spectacular contrast against the darker oral discs.

Nestled between them, a second variety introduces a completely different appearance, featuring rich burgundy-red oral discs surrounded by brilliant golden-yellow skirts.

🍽️ Care & Feeding

Both Zoanthid varieties are primarily photosynthetic, obtaining much of their energy through their symbiotic algae.

Direct feeding is generally unnecessary, although occasional broadcast feeding with fine particulate coral foods or appropriately sized zooplankton may provide additional nutrition.

Maintain stable water parameters and moderate nutrient availability to support healthy polyp extension, coloration and colony development.

Provide gentle to moderate indirect water movement to prevent detritus from accumulating between the polyps.

As the colony develops, monitor both varieties, as differences in growth rates may cause one morph to gradually occupy more space than the other.

Handling precaution: Zoanthids may contain palytoxin. Always wear gloves and eye protection when handling or fragging, and never boil, heat or pressure-wash rocks containing these corals.

Avoid excessive direct flow, which may prevent the polyps from expanding fully.

For maximum visual impact, display this colony on an isolated rock or dedicated collector island, allowing both morphs to develop naturally.
