Overview
The Dragon Tamer Torch is a visually intense morph of Euphyllia glabrescens, known for its powerful contrast of dark green base tentacles and vivid orange-yellow tips. These "flame-like" ends glow brightly under both LED and T5 reef lighting, giving it an almost mythical appearance—hence the name.
Ideal for hobbyists looking to add a centrepiece with both movement and vibrant colour, this torch coral will demand attention without disrupting the harmony of a mixed reef system.
Care & Feeding
This coral thrives under stable reef conditions with moderate to high PAR lighting. Being photosynthetic, it sustains itself through symbiosis with zooxanthellae, but regular target feeding with fine particulate or meaty blends (reef roids, Mysis shrimp) enhances colour intensity and polyp extension.
Its tentacles are aggressive and can sting nearby corals—provide at least several centimetres of clearance on all sides.
Optimal Parameters
-
Alkalinity (dKH): 8–11
-
Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm
-
Magnesium (Mg): 1300–1400 ppm
-
Nitrate (NO₃): 2–10 ppm
-
Phosphate (PO₄): 0.01–0.05 ppm
Placement
Position the Dragon Tamer Torch at the lower to mid-sections of your tank, away from direct flow but within a gentle current that allows its tentacles to sway freely. Be cautious with placement near other Euphyllia or LPS corals to avoid stinging incidents.
🐉🔥 Unleash the Flame
A coral worthy of its name, the Dragon Tamer Torch transforms your reef into a mythical realm with each polyp wave. It’s a bold fusion of colour, motion, and legend—perfect for reefers who want a signature showpiece.
