🍒💥 Cherry Bomb Tenuis
Acropora tenuis – Intense Red & Yellow Fluorescent Colony
Please note: This listing is for a frag cut-to-order from the colony shown in the photograph.
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Advanced
Temperament: Peaceful (requires a highly stable SPS system)
Colour Form: A spectacular explosion of deep cherry-red branches tipped with neon yellow and orange fluorescence. Under daylight it displays warm coral-red tones; under actinic or blue lighting it ignites like a supernova — red fire at the base transitioning into glowing golden light at the tips. Fine, densely packed polyps shimmer with soft amber tones, giving the coral a dynamic, living radiance that shifts as it moves in the flow.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 8–9, pH 8.1–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Acroporidae
Lighting: High (PAR 300–450)
Water Flow: Strong, alternating
Placement: Upper rockwork
🧬 Overview
The Cherry Bomb Tenuis is one of the most visually explosive SPS corals available — a collector-grade centrepiece renowned for its blazing bicolour contrast and unmatched fluorescence. Its name captures it perfectly: intense cherry-red bursting into neon yellow light.
Fast-growing with excellent polyp extension, this Acropora tenuis adds vibrant energy and refined richness to any SPS system. Under ideal conditions, its brightness rivals even the most brilliant Euphyllias — making it an exceptional highlight coral for reefers seeking maximum visual impact.
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Entirely photosynthetic, but benefits from fine coral foods once per week (Reef Roids, coral powders, phytoplankton). Maintain stable trace elements — particularly potassium, iron, and manganese — to preserve the strong red base and bright yellow tip contrast. Slightly detectable nutrients (NO₃ 2–10 ppm, PO₄ 0.02–0.08 ppm) help maintain vivid pigmentation.
📈 Optimal Parameters
| Parameter | Ideal Range |
|---|---|
| Alkalinity (dKH) | 8–9 |
| Calcium (Ca) | 430–460 ppm |
| Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm |
| Nitrate (NO₃) | 2–10 ppm |
| Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.02–0.08 ppm |
📍 Placement
Mount securely in the upper rockwork with strong, alternating flow and unobstructed lighting. Allow space for both upward and lateral development — this coral thrives in bright, open environments.
