🔵🪸 Acropora tenuis “Blue Tone”
WYSIWYG Specimen – Blue Tone Tenuis Acropora
🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Advanced
Temperament: Peaceful (requires spacing from neighbouring SPS colonies)
Colour Form: The Blue Tone Tenuis displays cool ocean-blue tissue across elegant branching structures with lighter icy-blue highlights along the growth tips and coralites. Under actinic lighting the coral glows with vivid fluorescent blue tones while subtle polyp texture adds depth across the branches. Under balanced white lighting the colony reveals a beautiful spectrum of sapphire blue, sky blue and soft turquoise shades that give the coral a refined and calm reef aesthetic.
Water Conditions: 24–26 °C, dKH 7.5–8.5, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Acroporidae
Lighting: High (PAR 250–350)
Water Flow: Strong and turbulent
Placement: Upper rockwork or high-energy reef zones
Type: WYSIWYG
🧬 Overview
The Acropora tenuis “Blue Tone” is a beautiful SPS coral prized for its cool blue coloration and elegant tenuis growth pattern. Its slender branches and pronounced axial tips create a delicate and refined colony structure that stands out among more aggressive SPS growth forms.
Blue-toned Acropora are particularly valued in reef aquascapes because they provide a cooler colour contrast when placed near warm-coloured corals such as reds, oranges or yellows. Under modern reef LED lighting the coral develops strong fluorescence, enhancing its ocean-blue appearance during actinic viewing periods.
As the colony matures, the branching network becomes more complex, creating an airy and intricate SPS structure that adds depth and colour balance to the reef display.
WYSIWYG:
You will receive the exact coral shown in the photo. Each specimen is individually photographed and selected for colour saturation, structure and coral health.
Selected for:
• Cool blue colour spectrum
• Elegant tenuis branching structure
• Healthy tissue and active growth tips
• Strong fluorescence under reef LED lighting
• Excellent contrast coral for SPS reef systems
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Like most Acropora species, Blue Tone Tenuis relies primarily on photosynthesis but benefits from stable nutrient levels and occasional coral feeding.
Recommended feeding 1–2× weekly:
• Fine plankton blends or powdered coral foods
• Amino acid supplements for SPS systems
• Broadcast feeding in mature reef aquariums
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter | Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm
📍 Placement
Place in the upper aquascape where strong lighting and turbulent water flow are present. Acropora tenuis thrives in high-energy reef zones where strong flow helps maintain tissue health and vibrant coloration.
Allow sufficient spacing between neighbouring SPS colonies to support natural branch development.
