Overview
The Shadow Bloom Discosoma is a moody, enigmatic morph of Discosoma sp., perfect for adding visual depth to dim reef corners. Its thick, fleshy disc displays a hypnotic contrast between lush green and ink-like black — a living shadow that sways gently with the current.
This soft coral is ideal for beginners and nano reef tanks, thriving in lower light environments with minimal care.
Care & Feeding
Photosynthetic and self-sufficient, but will benefit from occasional dustings of powdered coral foods like reef roids or broadcast feeding with phytoplankton. Avoid strong lighting to maintain its rich colours.
Optimal Parameters
-
Alkalinity (dKH): 8–11
-
Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm
-

-
Nitrate (NO₃): 2–10 ppm
-
Phosphate (PO₄): 0.01–0.05 ppm
Placement
Mount on rubble or low-lying rockwork away from high flow. This Discosoma prefers calm waters and indirect lighting, and can slowly spread over time into striking carpets.
