🌌 Electric Horizon Acropora

Acropora sp. (Ultra Colony with Blue Tips and Orange Light)

🔹 Quick Stats

  • Care Level: Moderate to Advanced

  • Temperament: Peaceful

  • Colour Form: Deep orange base illuminated by striking neon-blue tips. Under actinic or blue-dominant lighting, the blue fluoresces vibrantly while the orange glow radiates warmly from the branches, creating a stunning high-contrast ultra effect.

  • Water Conditions: 24–27 °C, dKH 8–12, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026

  • Family: Acroporidae

  • Lighting: Moderate to high (to maximise fluorescence and colour contrast)

  • Supplements: Calcium, Magnesium, Trace Elements, Amino Acids

  • Water Flow: Moderate — ensures full polyp extension and healthy tissue

  • Placement: Upper or mid reef levels for optimal colour and growth

🧬 Overview

The Electric Horizon Acropora is an ultra morph prized for its dramatic contrast between glowing orange branches and fluorescent blue tips. The colony’s structure allows light to highlight each tip, giving a dynamic, electrified horizon effect across the reef. Its vivid colouration and polyp extension make it an eye-catching centrepiece in any display tank.

Ultra Acroporas like this are highly collectible, offering both visual impact and vibrant fluorescence that enhances the overall reefscape.

🍽️ Feeding & Care

While photosynthetic, this Acropora benefits from supplemental feeding 1–2 times per week with phytoplankton, coral-specific amino acid blends, or fine particulate foods. Targeted feeding promotes brighter tip fluorescence, fuller polyp extension, and faster growth. Stable water parameters are essential for maintaining ultra coloration.

📈 Optimal Parameters

  • Alkalinity (dKH): 8–12

  • Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm

  • Magnesium (Mg): 1250–1350 ppm

  • Nitrate (NO₃): 0–10 ppm

  • Phosphate (PO₄): 0–0.05 ppm

📍 Placement

Place in moderate to high lighting with steady, moderate flow. Ensure open space for polyp extension and avoid aggressive neighbours. Under blue or actinic lighting, the blue tips fluoresce brilliantly against the orange base, giving the colony a striking “electric horizon” effect.
