Overview

Botryocladia botryoides, commonly known as Red Grape Macroalgae, is a highly ornamental red macroalgae prized for its grape-like vesicles and rich coloration. It thrives under medium to high lighting and benefits from the presence of nitrates and phosphates, making it an effective and attractive nutrient-export option.

Although it can move slightly with flow, it can be securely fixed to rock using cyanoacrylate or left to grow freely on sand without issues. This species is palatable to herbivorous fish, so placement in a protected area of the aquarium is recommended. Supplementation with iron, magnesium, and trace elements helps maintain healthy growth and intense coloration. Reef-safe, easy to care for, and visually striking, it is an excellent addition to both refugiums and display tanks.
