🔹 Inferno Core Favites
Favites sp. (XL Colony – Strong Red with Toxic Yellow Highlights)

🔹 Quick Stats
Care Level: Easy to Moderate
Temperament: Semi-aggressive (sweeper tentacles at night, requires spacing)
Colour Form: Bold deep red primary tissue contrasted by toxic yellow mouths and highlights, creating a fiery molten-core appearance. Under actinic or blue-heavy lighting, the yellow fluoresces brightly against the rich crimson base, producing a dramatic ultra effect.
Water Conditions: 24–27 °C, dKH 8–12, pH 8.0–8.4, sg 1.024–1.026
Family: Merulinidae
Lighting: Moderate to high (enhances fluorescence and contrast)
Supplements: Calcium, Magnesium, Trace Elements, Amino Acids
Water Flow: Moderate — supports tissue health and prevents detritus buildup
Placement: Mid to lower reef zones, away from other corals

🧬 Overview
The Inferno Core Favites is an XL showpiece colony combining fiery red tissue with toxic yellow mouths that glow intensely under reef lighting. This ultra-contrast morph delivers a volcanic, molten-core appearance that makes it one of the most striking large brain corals available. Its patterned growth and bold coloration make it a highly desirable centerpiece for collectors.

🍽️ Feeding & Care
Favites are photosynthetic but thrive with weekly target feedings of fine meaty foods (mysis, chopped shrimp, enriched brine). Feeding encourages growth, deepens coloration, and maintains large-polyp expansion. Allow spacing for nocturnal sweeper tentacles.

📈 Optimal Parameters

  • Alkalinity (dKH): 8–12

  • Calcium (Ca): 420–460 ppm

  • Magnesium (Mg): 1250–1350 ppm

  • Nitrate (NO₃): 2–10 ppm

  • Phosphate (PO₄): 0.02–0.08 ppm

📍 Placement
Best positioned in mid-to-low reef levels with moderate flow to avoid detritus accumulation. Provide ample space from neighbouring corals to prevent tissue stings. Under blue/actinic lighting, the yellow mouths glow intensely while the strong red base creates a fiery contrast.
