🧬 Overview
The Acanthastrea “Emerald Abyss” is a beautiful Indonesian Acan colony featuring an impressive mix of glowing green centers and deep blue outer rings. The combination of these cool-toned colours creates a striking contrast that stands out strongly in reef aquascapes.
This specimen is a medium to XL colony, already showing a dense cluster of fleshy polyps that give the coral a strong presence in the aquarium. Indonesian Acan colonies are known for their vibrant fluorescence and thick tissue structure, making them both visually stunning and relatively hardy.
Under modern reef LED lighting the green centers glow intensely while the blue rings add depth and contrast, giving the colony a vivid yet elegant appearance.
As the coral grows, new polyps develop around the edges, gradually forming a larger and more impressive colony.
WYSIWYG:
You will receive the exact coral shown in the photo. Each specimen is individually photographed and selected for colour intensity, polyp structure and coral health.
Selected for:
• Emerald-green polyp centers
• Deep blue and turquoise outer rings
• Large fleshy Indonesian Acan polyps
• Medium–XL established colony
• Strong fluorescence under reef LED lighting
🍽️ Care & Feeding
Acanthastrea corals benefit from regular feeding and nutrient-balanced reef environments.
Recommended feeding 1–2× weekly:
• Mysis shrimp
• Finely chopped seafood
• LPS pellets or coral foods
• Target feeding during evening polyp expansion
📈 Optimal Parameters
Parameter | Ideal Range
Alkalinity (dKH) | 7.5–8.5
Calcium (Ca) | 420–450 ppm
Magnesium (Mg) | 1300–1400 ppm
Nitrate (NO₃) | 5–15 ppm
Phosphate (PO₄) | 0.03–0.10 ppm
📍 Placement
Place on the lower rockwork or sand bed where lighting is moderate and water flow is gentle. Provide enough space around the coral as Acan colonies can extend short feeding tentacles during feeding periods.
Avoid placing the coral too close to aggressive LPS species.
